The Nation’s Toast to the Heroes - 1:00 pm
The Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of the NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers
Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, one word has been used to sum up the nation’s opinion of our NHS teams and all the frontline workers . . . Heroes. The country will be asked to pause at 1pm and raise a glass of refreshment of their choice to join in the Nation’s Toast – “To those who give so much, 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the NHS, social care and on the front line, we thank and salute you.”
The Nation’s Toast will be led by Captain Katy Connor from the top of Slive Donard, Northern Ireland; Katy Espresatti and her two daughters, Tiana Sophie Espresatti, 7, and Kaila Emily Espresatti, 11, from the summit of Ben Nevis, Scotland; Rowena Roberts from the top of Mount Snowdon, Wales, and Tara Haines, from Scafell Pike, England. They will represent the women who are constantly playing such a brave and vital role in our battle against the virus.
Brass Bands England have kindly written a special anthem to coincide with the Nation’s Toast. They will encourage their 550 member bands to play the anthem at 1pm on July 5th 2021 as their personal tribute to all those who give so much 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We expect many other bands to also take part.
