JW Plant: The Flag Company - Logo

J. W. Plant & Co Ltd are proud to be nominated as the official flag, banner and bunting supplier for ‘NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day’. We have worked with Pageantmaster Bruno Peek LVO OBE OPR and his team for several years and look forward to being involved in this very worthwhile project.

JW Plant are a family run business, and we have been manufacturing flags in the UK for four generations. Based in Leeds, our factory continues to manufacture a wide rage, or traditional hand sewn, screen printed and digitally printed flags. We believe in taking the best of modern innovation and blending it traditional skills in order to ensure we provide a quality product offering the exceptional value.

At the heart of this is a passion for flags, the symbolism their convey, their ability to unit communities, and provide a focus with which we can give thanks, celebrate and be proud. Whilst manufacturing may have changed over the years, the symbolism has not, and a flag is as valuable to day as is was as a rallying point in the past.

The new flag gives a bold focus, a clear message of support, and symbolises the hope of a brighter future.

This year there will have 3 standard flag sizes to choose from plus a banner and a standard length of bunting. A £5.00 donation from every flag and length of bunting will be equally divided between NHS Charities Together and the National Care Association and will be sent direct to them by J.W. Plant

Care Guide

Ensure your flag is correctly attached to the flagpole and that there is unobstructed movement for the flag.
Make sure that there is sufficient clearance between each flagpole when there are multiple poles. Flagpoles must be secure.
All halyards should be kept taught and well maintained.
In bad weather, poles and flags should be checked immediately or at the earliest opportunity.
We recommend a full risk assessment is carried out before installing flags.
Do not fly needlessly at night.
Remove flags in high winds. Flag and flagpole strain should be monitored at force 4-6 and consideration should be given to removing the flag if it is pulling hard on the halyard or straining the flagpole. Flags should be removed from the flagpoles at force 7.
Repair flags when the stitching in the hem starts to break.

Washing Instructions

Knitted polyester flags can be washed at 30-40 degrees centigrade using a typically branded washing powder.
1-2 main washes may be required to remove soiling.
The flags should be dried thoroughly before being folded.
Flags should be washed from the outset. It is unlikely that dirt that has been ingrained over a prolonged period of time will be removed.
All dyes used on our flags have been pre-washed at a minimum 50 degrees centigrade prior to supply.
Do Not Dry Clean Flags
